Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry warns Kyrgyz citizens to abide to customs regulations of Turkey while importing tobacco and alcohol products

AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry notifies citizens about increasing cases of arrests and detentions of Kyrgyz citizens in Turkish border and customs checkpoints, especially Turkish airports, for attempts to bring tobacco and alcohol products above the amount allowed to be brought to Turkey.
According to Turkish customs legislation, the import of tobacco and alcohol products in excess of the normal amount is a criminal offense in Turkey and persons violating this law are subject to criminal prosecution for smuggling.
In this regard, the Foreign Ministry warns Kyrgyzstanis about criminal prosecution and calls on to abide to the customs regulations of Turkey.
The following goods may be imported into Turkey by travellers aged 18 and over without incurring customs duty: 600 cigarettes, 100 cigarillos, 50 cigars and 250g of tobacco. 1L of alcohol over 22% volume or 2L of alcohol under 22% volume. 5 bottles (maximum 120ml each) of perfume and eau de toilette.
