Kyrgyzstan sums up outcomes of its Turkic Council Chairmanship

AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan is completing its Turkic Council Chairmanship, President Sooronbai Jeenbekov said at the meeting of the Turkic Council Summit in Baku today. "We have made all possible efforts for further development of the Organization during chairmanship, strengthening of a productive cooperation and friendly ties between the states," he said.
"Since establishment of the Turkic Council, 55 events were held, 15 of them were held during Kyrgyzstan's Turkic Council chairmanship. Hungary gained observer status, Uzbekistan became a full member of the Organization. The European office of the Turkic Council was opened in Budapest. This office will bolster connections between Turkic and European civilizations. I think with start of participation of Uzbekistan and Hungary in work of the Council, the steps will be made in future so that other our partners will join it. I believe the expansion of the Turkic Council will facilitate development of multifaceted cooperation and ties between Turkic speaking nations," President Jeenbekov said.
The concept of the Turkic Investment and Integration Fund was approved. Cooperation between the states in education, transport was stepped up. The efforts were made so that the Turkic Council gains an observer status in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The secretariat of the Turkic Council will continue this work now, Jeenbekov said.
International ethnofestivals of Turkic world were held in connection with declaration of Osh the cultural capital of the Turkic world, he added.
