AKIPRESS.COM - One of the U.S. citizens caught with drugs on the Bishkek-Osh road will remain in custody until November 19, Jalal-Abad region court ruled.
Two 23-year-old U.S. nationals, one from New-York and another from Belmont, were detained on September 19 in Jalal-Abad region.
They were moving on a car driven by a local man. Police search revealed 1.05 kg of marijuana.
A district level court ruled to take one of the detainees into custody for 2 months, and the regional level court upheld that decision. At sentencing, they might face up to 10 years in prison for drug trafficking.
One of the detainees will stay in Osh remand prison until November 19. The fate of the second U.S. citizen who was in the car has not yet been revealed.
The detainees reportedly worked as the Peace Corpse volunteers in one of the schools in Aksy district.
