AKIPRESS.COM - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev commented on transition of the Kazakh alphabet from Cyrillic into Latin script, Zakon.kz reported.
"A historical decision on transition into a Latin alphabet was adopted about 2 years ago. However, there are still shortcomings in the alphabet. The linguist should improve the alphabet. I gave instructions to the Ministry of Culture and Sports. A big work will be done," Tokayev wrote on Twitter.
In October 2017, then President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a decree, which was amended recently, on the phased transition of the Kazakh alphabet from Cyrillic into Latin script by 2025. ... Between 1927 and 1940, the Soviet Union briefly introduced a Latin alphabet.
