Pre-trial arrest of top officials involved in Bishkek CHPP probe upheld

AKIPRESS.COM - Pre-trial arrest of ex-PMs Sapar Isakov, Jantoro Satybaldiyev, Aibek Kaliyev, Avazov, Nazarov and Temirlan Brimkulov until 12 December 2019 was upheld, the Bishkek city court ruled on Oct 21.
3 criminal probes were launched following the breakdown at the Bishkek CHPP of January 26, 2018. One of the cases looks into corruption during the selection of a contractor for the modernization of the power plant. Investigators claim that the suspects lobbied the interests of Chinese company TBEA, which offered the biggest bid - $386 million.
