AKIPRESS.COM - Some 150 sign language interpreters and assistants of people with disabilities in Sheil district of Kyzylorda region are threatening to go on hunger strike, as they are not paid salaries for 4 months, Informburo.kz reports.
The district authorities owe them more than 20 million tenge.
The tender for payment for social work was won by educational and industrial center for disabled "Yshkyn". 28 million tenge were allocated for payment of salaries to 154 specialists. However, this sum of money appeared to be not enough.
Deputy Director of th center Abzal Mendiyarov said that the center won the tender for 28 million tenge in January 2019. Then at the request of the First President the minimum wage was increased up to 42,500 tenge.
"28 million tenge are not enough," he noted.
