Kyrgyzstan marks Snow Leopard Day

AKIPRESS.COM - The Snow Leopard Day is marked in Kyrgyzstan on October 23.
Kyrgyzstan is home to 350-400 snow leopards now, according to the State Environmental Protection and Forestry Agency.
The number of snow leopards depends upon the wild animals they eat, including mountain sheep, goats, hares, marmots and others. The range of snow leopards make around 45% of the country territory - 89,000 sq km, that is almost half of Kyrgyzstan.
7 satellite collars were put on snow leopards and two collars on wolves with the purpose to track movements of snow leopards and their daily activity.
