Kazakhstan, Belarus seek to balance trade

AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstan and Belarus aim to continue cooperation in many spheres, however, the most important is trade, Akorda reported during the official visit of Belarusian President to Kazakhstan, Vlast.kz said.
"We have just talked about the main issues in a narrow forman meeting, as some issues need to be discussed while cooperating with the closest states anyway. I think that we are switching over to serious agreements as a result of the talks and I am sure that the documents will be relaized in the nearest future," President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
Tokayev noted that the agreements that will be signed today are "very serious step ahead in promotion of cooperation between the two countries".
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, in turn, said that the countries are open to each other in discussing any issues.
He said that Kazakhstan is a key trade partner of Belarus. Trade between the countries over the last years increased twice and reached $900 million, according to him.
"There is a certain disbalance between the countries in trade in favor of Belarus. But import from Kazakhstan has significantly increased over the past years by 45%. If this continues, we will make balance between our trade," Lukashenko said.
