AKIPRESS.COM - Almost 98% of violences against women in Kyrgyzstan were committed by men over the last 6 years, the Ministry of Interior reported in its justification note to the amendments to the law on protection from family violence. Therefore, the Ministry says that a family violence in the country is a gender problem.
A significant growth of administrative offenses on family violence has been observed by courts. In 2012, 716 administrative cases were considered by courts, in 2017 - 2,547 cases were registered.
The statistics provided by healthcare institutions, says that a number of diseases and traumas received after family violence is growing.
Within 6 years, the data show a growth of a number of criminal cases on family violence that were considered by courts.
"This means that the family violence becomes more and more criminalized. It might cause severe consequences to health and life of a person, including murder committed on family cirsumstances," the Ministry noted.
