Homage paid to Batken events victims in Jalal-Abad

AKIPRESS.COM - Jalal-Abad town paid tribute to soldiers died during the Batken events of 1999-2000, Turmush reports. The event was attended by deputy governor Yrysbek Yzabekov, local council's speaker Aibek Joldoshev, vice-mayor Ruslan Altymyshov, heads of enterprises.
According to the chairman of state council of Batken events veterans Rustambek Amirakulov, during the Batken events 17 soldiers from the region were killed, 3 soldiers were awarded the Manas order, 7 soldiers were awarded the Erdik medal, 20 soldiers were awarded with President's honorary certificates.
October 26 is a commemoration day to pay homage to the soldiers killed during the Batken events of 1999-2000. Military personnel who died during the fighting to protect the southern borders of Kyrgyzstan are in the lists of military units of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan for forever by order of the Ministry of Defense of 2001.
