Some 30-40 people detained in Almaty for protest actions

AKIPRESS.COM - Some 20 people came to the Congress Hall in Nur-Sultan to express protest, Vlast.kz reported.
Police held an explanatory work with the participants of the rally.
In Almaty, the protesters failed to gather for protest, as most of them were detained eaither at the Astana square or other sites. A total of 30-40 people were detained on Sunday.
Some of the potential participants of the rallies were detained earlier on Sunday morning.
The Kazakhstan International Bureau for Human Rights and Rule of Law reported that human righst activists Erlan Kaliyev, Marzhan Aspandiyarov and Ryspek Sarsenbayuly, who planned to observe the situation, could not reach the protest sites.
Activist Kamilla Shokanova told Vlast.kz that she was detained upon arrival to the Astana square.
The press service of the Interior Ministry said 26 people were detained during the rallies for investigation of the circumstances and imposition of administrative sanctions.
The Interior Ministry calls on citizens not to succumb to provocations and refrain from participating in the illegal protests of "extremist organizations".
The General Prosecutor's Office of the country earlier warned of strict measures for participants and organizers of the protests that were not approved by authorities.
