Minimum amount of alimony to reach 1,800 soms per child within new law: Lawmaker

AKIPRESS.COM - The amount of alimony per child will be increased according to the new law on alimony, said MP Aisuluu Mamashova at the press conference in Bishkek on Oct 28. According to her, the minimum amount of alimony for one child will be equal to at least 50% of the subsistence rate and will reach about 1,800 soms.
The public activist Irina Aksenova said that over 6,000 claims on alimony were registered in 6 months of 2019.
"92% of children live with their mother after a divorce in Kyrgyzstan. Currently, many women are no longer afraid to file lawsuits to recover alimony," she said.
Mamashova noted that the minimum amount of alimony will increase annually.
