School children attending container school in Naryn provided a local club building

AKIPRESS.COM - Children who attended a heavily criticized and mocked container school in Naryn region were provided a building of the club, Turmush regional news reports.
The village club building was renovated and today it opened for two shift study of children.
One of the school-goers Symbat Bektemir kyzy told the outlet that she likes studying in the club more than in the containers. She hopes to finally go to normal school when the new building construction is done.
Teacher Sultangazy Osmonov told Turmush that the old school building was declared emergency 5 years ago by the Emergency Ministry. "The village club was renovated in a month. The new Education Minister brought a laptop and books and said 3 million soms were allocated, which means the school will be built after the tender," he added.
In early September 2019 after the news about ceremonial opening of a container school in Naryn region appeared on Turmush regional news, people took to their social media accounts to express outrage and asked authorities and oligarchs to pay attention to the problem and help build a new school building.
The school made of containers opened in Kenesh village and was dubbed by local authorities "mobile houses," which appeared to temporarily replace an old school building because it became dangerous to be in it.
Last year, classes in the old school building were suspended due to its poor condition. Local authorities and villagers appealed to all possible authorities to address the issue. A special commission came to the village and pledged solutions.
Before the new academic year, the Emergency Ministry delivered 6 containers which were transformed into mobile houses. The new container school was suitable for 172 children to study in two shifts, 22 teachers and 7 maintenance workers. 15 first-graders went to school this year and 10 children attend preparatory school.
Opening of the container school took place with local authorities in attendance on September 2.
The container school scandal led to the Education Minister's resignation.
