"We say no to legalization of marijuana in Kazakhstan" — Interior Ministry

AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstan is not going to legalize marijuana, Chief of the anti-drug department of the Interior Ministry of Kazakhstan Tlegen Matkenov told a briefing.
"In the Netherlands, where marijuana is legalized, the level of drug addiction of hemp exceeds 17%, in our Chui gorge, the level of addiction of help is only 5%. But today Kazakhstan will not legalize marijuana in any of its forms," Matkenov noted.
All governments that started from legalization of marijuana come to another problem today - they substitute heroin with its analogue - methadone, according to him.
After usig methadone, as a rule, these people switchover to the heroin.
"There is no any drug addict, who started using the hard drug at once. Everything starts from small ones," Matkenov said.
The possibility of legalization of marijuana in Kazakhstan was discussed in May 2019 at the Eurasian media forum in Almaty.
The Speaker told about the medical use of a cannabis and its risks that lead to the uncontrolled use.
