100th anniversary of statesman Usubaliev marked in Bishkek

AKIPRESS.COM - The public ceremony to celebrate the 100th anniversary of statesman Turdakun Usubaliev was held in the National Philharmonic Hall today in Bishkek. The event was attended by family members and colleagues of Turdakun Usubaliev.
The grandson of the politician, Ermek Usubaliev, shared his memories about the grandfather. "He was a usual grandpa for me in childhood. Later I began to realize what post he held and importance he played for the country. Honestly, it is hard to bear Usubaliev name. I hope his name will hold a decent place in the history of Kyrgyzstan," Ermek Usubaliev said.
A short film was screened at the ceremony about construction of Frunze city (former name of Bishkek) guided by Turdakun Usubaliev. The concert followed then.
Turdakun Usubaliev was the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Kyrgyz Soviet Socialist Republic from 1961 to 1985.
Such buildings of a state importance as the Parliament House (known as White House), Ala-Too Square, Government House, National Philharmonic Hall, Historical Museum, Toktogul hydropower plants, Aichurek Central Department Store, Russian Drama Theater, parks, complexes and other facilities were built during Usubaliev's tenure.
