Opposition members, Tajik president’s bodyguards clash in downtown Paris

AKIPRESS.COM - Members of the opposition movement Group 24, which is outlawed in Tajikistan, clashed with the Tajik President's security guards in the center of Paris in the evening of November 7, Akhbor reports.
President Rahmon arrived in Paris last night from Switzerland.
According to eyewitnesses, Group 24 supporters scanned slogans in protest against Rahmon's policy at the place where the Tajik President was meeting with French businessmen.
After the President's bodyguards demanded from the protesters to leave, the heated exchange of arguments overgrew into insults and fight.
Protesters said around 50 French police officers and ambulance car were dispatched to the scene. The French police officers stood between the protesters and the Tajik President's bodyguards and barred the protesters from approaching the place of the talks.
Members of the Tajik opposition mainly active in Europe said in advance they will hold protest actions in the European capitals Rahmon will visit.
The first picket was held in Bern on November 5, where Rahmon arrived on November 4.
