'Russia-Ukraine meeting in Kazakhstan is unnecessary' — MFA comments on Nazarbayev's proposal

AKIPRESS.COM - Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko said that the idea of Nursultan Nazarbayev to arrange a meeting of Vladimir Putin with Vladimir Zelensky was unclear, BBC reported.
"I was at the meeting with Nursultan Nazarbayev, when this was discussed in Japan. Nazarbayev really offered to be a mediator for such a meeting, but this was only discussion that he could help in this," the diplomat said.
According to Prystaiko, Vladimir Zelensky answered the First President of Kazakhstan that he "certainly should meet with Putin, as we can not change things without a meeting". The Foreign Minister added that there was no talks on mediation of Nazarbayev.
The proposal of Nazarbayev had a general diplomatic character. "If you need - I can help". Zelensky replied "Thanks, we need any help, let's meet," Prystaiko noted.
From a logical point of view, the idea of Kazakhstan is more complicated than the Minsk one.
"No one wants to offend, but we are okay with what we have now - the talks in Minsk - it is convenient for all of us," the Ukrainian Minister said.
At a moment, Russia and Ukraine are preparing for the Normandy Talks.
