AKIPRESS.COM - The Interior Ministry of Kyrgyzstan has made an official statement concerning businessman Aierken Saimaiti, who was shot to death on November 10 in Turkey. "A Chinese national reported to police on May 23, 2017, asking to undertake actions with regard to Chinese national Aierken Saimaiti, who appropriated money and goods for $3.28 million at the Kara-Suu bazaar of Osh region from 14 August 2016 through 28 February 2017 and then escaped," the statement said.
The criminal probe was launched into fraud then.
In May 2017, Saimaiti was put on wanted list, later he was put on international wanted list.
The investigation established Chinese national Saimaiti used the illegally issued ID-card and international travel passport in the name of Kyrgyz citizen Erkin Samiatov, born in 1982.
The probe into unlawful issuance of the passport was launched in July 2019. Suzak district passport office worker was charged with illegal issuance of passport and power abuse, forgery of documents.
The probe was also launched against Saimaiti on charges of unlawful making and use of the Kyrgyz passport.
