11 high-security prisons operate in Kyrgyzstan: GSIN

AKIPRESS.COM - 11 high-security prisons are operating in Kyrgyzstan, said the deputy chairman of State Penitentiary Service Taalaibek Nuraliyev at the press conference in Bishkek on Nov 14. According to him, 7 of them are pre-trial detention facilities. There are 10 penal colonies. Over 3,700 people are working in the penitenriary service, including 30% of them are women.
9,702 people serve their terms in the prisons, 346 people were sentenced to life and 427 were convicted of extremism.
Nuraliyev added that all penal facilities are ready for winter.
