AKIPRESS.COM - Kazakhstani geologists found oil seeps on the territory of the Karatau town of Turkestan region, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports. "We should examine the site on southern Kazakhstan," Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resourses of Kazakhstan Magzum Mirzagaliyev said.
Major oil deposits in Kazakhstan are located in the west of the country, Atyrau, Mangistau regions. Extraction of oil in the country started growing mainly by three largest oil projects Kashagan, Karachaganak and Tengiz. More than 52 million tons of oil have been produced in Kazakhstan since the beginning of 2019.
Now a new oil refinery worth 114 billion tenge is under construction in Turkestan region. The launch of the project is scheduled for 2021.
