AKIPRESS.COM - The delegation of Uzbekistan led by Chairman of the State Environmental Protection Committee Bahrom Kuchkarov attended the 25th session of the UN European Economic Commission's Committee on Environmental Policy on 13-15 November, the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan said.
Environmental experts and statisticians from more than 30 countries and 10 international organizations participated in the event.
The third review of Uzbekistan's environmental activities was discussed at the session.
Bahrom Kuchkarov delivered a report on the environmental situation in Uzbekistan and outlined the large-scale reforms ongoing in the country in this area. A particular attention was paid to preservation of biological diversity, use of natural resources, mitigation of the Aral Sea disaster, creation of the favorable socio-economic conditions in the Aral Sea region.
The delegation of Uzbekistan held talks with UNECE Environment Division Director Marco Kainer, Director of the European Office of the UN Environment Programme Bruno Pozzi to discuss environmental cooperation and prospects of implementation of environmental projects in Uzbekistan.
