Kyrgyzstan recognized rubella free country: Health Ministry

AKIPRESS.COM - The European Regional Bureau of the World Health Organization awarded certificate, which recognizes Kyrgyzstan as rubella free country. The Health Minister Kosmosbek Cholponbayev met with the head of WHO office in Kyrgyzstan Nazira Artykova and WHO Programme Manager - Vaccine-preventable Diseases and Immunization Siddhartha Sankar Datta on Nov 19.
Kyrgyzstan has maintained the status of poliomyelitis free country and incidence of pertussis has decreased.
"A number of child and infant mortality has decreased due to the immunization. Health Ministry considers immunization as one of the priority programs of public health," said Cholponbayev.
