AKIPRESS.COM - Speaker of the Parliament of Mongolia Gombojav Zandanshatar said that Chairman of the Central Bank of Mongolia Banzragch Bayarsaikhan and Chairman of the financial regulation commission should be accountable for joining of Mongolia in the Financial Action Task Force's watch list. The country was included in the FATF list in October 2019 for failure to meet the requirements and recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force regarding measures on fighting money laundering and financing of terrorism.
The resignation issue of Bayarsaikhan has been discussed in the Parliament of Mongolia and was postponed at the request of the parliamentary group of the ruling Mongolian People's Party.
The party supported the resignation of the Chief of the Central Bank.
However, Bayarsaikhan was interrogated concerning his works in the bank at the Friday session of the National Security Council.
On November 20, Bayarsaikhan handed in his resignation to Speaker of the Parliament.
