AKIPRESS.COM - The Air Astana national airline can not buy Boeing 737 MAX aircraft as long as the ban on exploitation of this jet is not lifted, Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov said, Sputnik Kazakhstan reported. "Probably, they had plans and talks. A firm decision on purchase of the aircraft has not been taken, as the aviation committee banned exploitation of this type of jets on the territory of Kazakhstan," Atamkulov noted.
Kazakhstan can prolong the restrictions for operation of this plane if necessary, he noted.
This will be approved with the international organizations that control over the security issues, according to him.
The Air Astana has earlier announced about its plan to purchase 30 Boeing 737 MAX planes for $3.6 billion.
This type of jets are temporarily banned in many countries of the world, including in Kazakhstan, after air crashes.
