Every fifth college girl abused sexually in Kyrgyzstan - Study

AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan has issue of sexual abuse in in the workplace and in the universities, this became known following the presentation of a study on the scales of sexual abuse of women and girls in the workplace on Nov 22. Kyrgyz association of women judges from July to October, 2019 conducted anonymous survey of 877 women and girls in the workplace and in universities. The survey covered 4 cities Bishkek, Osh, Kara-Balta and Tokmok.
According to the study, over two-thirds of questioned women confirmed on the existence of this issue.
Each surveyed woman had experience of sexual abuse in the workplace, mainly there were women aged of 20 to 38 year-old and single.
"Women occupying minor position at work are most often subjected to sexual abuse, than women with senior position. Every fifth college girl was subjected to sexual harassment in their educational institutions," the statement said.
