Parliament committee approves bill on prohibition synthetic fishing nets and electric-fishing systems in Kyrgyzstan

AKIPRESS.COM - The parliament committee for agrarian policy approved in the second reading the draft law on prohibition of the import, production, sale and use of synthetic fishing nets and electric-fishing systems in Kyrgyzstan on Nov 24. According to the MP Jyrgalbek Turuskulov, the draft law was developed to preserve the aquatic biological resources, their living environment and provision of favorable environment.
The fishing using the synthetic fishing nets and electric-fishing systems poses a threat to aquatic biological resources. The appliance of these systems causes enormous damage to the environment and aquatic biological resources of the country, Turuskulov added.
