AKIPRESS.COM - Lawmaker Iskender Matraimov, brother of infamous ex-Deputy Chairman of State Customs Service Raimbek Matraimov, was outraged over the comments of the Chairman of the State Service for Fight against Economic Crimes (financial police) Bakir Tairov.
Lawmaker Matraimov read out the excerpt from the Azattyk news agency's news article saying that chief of financial police told reporters about the fraud schemes for withdrawal of funds from Kyrgyzstan and involvement of the family of ex-Deputy Chairman of State Customs Service Raimbek Matraimov in those schemes.
"Where are the proofs for that?" Matraimov shouted.
Tairov denied saying that.
Matraimov said he did not want to comment the case, but he had to because of such false news.
"Who is here from the Azattyk now? You're sitting here and releasing news online, right?" Matraimov asked.
He demanded to do fact checking before publishing any information.
The joint meeting of the parliament's two standing committees for economic and fiscal policy and the law enforcement, crime control and anti-corruption on November 26 considered the report of the government on fight against smuggling in the EAEU space.
Journalist investigation by Azattyk, ОССRP and Kloop agencies claim that $700 million were withdrawn from Kyrgyzstan by businessman Aierken Saimaiti, who reportedly handed over documents to the journalists proving the corruption scheme involving ex-top Kyrgyz officials before his murder.
Saimaiti was shot dead at the hotel cafe in Istanbul on November 10 evening.
