AKIPRESS.COM - Khorezm region court for common pleas dismissed the motion of attorney of blogger Nafosat Ollashukurova to release he from mental hospital and ruled to keep her there for uncertain period of time, centralasian.org reports. The court had a field session at the Khorezm region mental hospital, attorney Umid Davlatov said.
Nafosat intends to appeal to the Supreme Court against the ruling.
32-year old Nafosat Ollashukurova was sentenced to 10-day administrative arrest after she covered the march to Tashkent of Khorezm poet and journalist Mahmud Rajab on Facebook. The court found her guilty of petty hooliganism, failure to obey lawful demands of police officer, creation of conditions for unsanctioned rallies, marches and demonstrations. Three days after her arrest Ollashukurov was taken to the mental hospital in Urgench.
The General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan alleged psychological changes in Ollashukurova's behavior occurred a day after the arrest.
According to the mental hospital documents, the woman suffers from paranoid personality disorder. Nasofat's father said his daughter has nevery had any mental disorders.
Nafosat Ollashukurova on her Facebook page having over 4,000 followers wrote about women's rights and reported about corrupt practices of local authorities.
