AKIPRESS.COM - The government of Mongolia decided to prohibit using a raw coal in March 2019. The domestic violators face $113 fine for using raw coal, while companies - $1,134.
In Mongolia, the air temperature reaches up to - 40°C in winter.
Ulaanbaatar is one of the most air polluted cities in the world, as a half of the population of the country immigrated to the capital. Smoke from the ger districts (residential districts) with the population of more than 220,000 families is the main reason for air pollution in the Mongolian capital.
Raw coal means coal that has been removed or exposed for removal from a mine, but that has not been processed in a preparation plant.
