AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministry of Culture of Kyrgyzstan made a statement after the Feminale of Modern Art "Nurse" international exhibition was held at the National Museum of Fine Arts named after Gapar Aitiev in Bishkek on November 27. The performance of naked women caused resentment of the Ministry.
"The National Museum of Arts named after Gapar Aitiyev provided a platform for an exhibition and became a co-organizer of the international exhibition "Feminale of Modern Art "Nurse", which according to the goal of the organizers was aimed at drawing population's attention to the issue of economic freedom of women.
The exhibition was held in compliance with the purpose of the organizators and became a subject of public discussion.
Unfortunately, the organizators interpret the esthetics of performance in a specific form, where a choreography, pantomime, and acting are the tool of the creative process. A feminale uses a language of provocation as a method, еpatage by giving out bodily nudity for perfomance, which disorients the visitor and, moreover, is not directly related to the declared topic of economic freedom.
The Ministry of Culture is strongly against the naked women show in the art museum and does not support such kinds of provocative challenges of a modern art," the statement says.
The Ministry ordered to create a commission on consideration of this issue. The Minister also instructed to hold an urgent work on introduction of rules of holding and planning of events in the ministerial institutions.
