Parliament proposes to toughen smoking ban in public areas

AKIPRESS.COM - The parliament committee for social issues, culture, education, science and health care passed in the first reading the draft laws on protection of health of citizens of Kyrgyzstan from consequences of tobacco consumption and exposure to tobacco smoke and on amendments and additions to some legislative acts of Kyrgyzstan on Dec 2. The bill initiators proposed to ban smoking and its advertisement in the public areas, as well as to set fines for violation of this rule.
The government representative read out the conclusion that bill contradicts the law on budget.
"Kyrgyzstan annually lose over 10 billion soms over smoking of citizens. Mostly, young people suffer from cigarettes and shisha," said MP Tabaldy Tillayev and added that a number of women using naswar is increased.
