AKIPRESS.COM - Amid the existing situation, the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry of Kyrgyzstan proposed optimization and reduction of a number of mini buses from the municipal public transport by replacing by buses and gas buses, as well as restoration of the trolley bus fleet and increasing a number and quality of trolley bus lines, the Agency said.
The automobile transport today is the strongest source of the environmental pollution, according to the report.
In this regard, the relevant authorities raised the issue of air pollution and the ways of fighting against it in Bishkek.
The total annual pollutant emissions into the air of Bishkek make 240,00 tons, including 180,000 tons of harmful substances from vehicles.
The industrial emmissions are only about 10% of the total volume of polluting emmissions, and almost about 90% come from automobile transport.
To examine the air pollution in Bishkek, employees of the Agency as part of implementation of the short-term plan on improving ecological situation in Bishkek in 2019 are going to gather samples of air at the central streets and in all real estates andmicro districts of the city.
The short-term plan on improvement of the environmental situation in Bishkek for 2019 is composed of 12 terms:
- strengthening the raid in places of illegal parking (especially near markets, large malls, administrative and public buildings),
- regulation of the movement of vehicles by traffic inspectors,
- strengthening control over the measurement of emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere from vehicles,
- monitoring and video surveillance of objects that have a harmful effect on the environment using drones,
- strengthening control over business entities, residential houses, saunas and bathhouses to prevent the burning of waste products in furnaces and boilers (clothing, automobile oils, plastic products, rubber, rubber, car tires, cameras, etc.).
