Founder of Kazakhstan International Bureau for Human Rights and Rule of Law passes away

AKIPRESS.COM - A founder of the Kazakhstan International Bureau for Human Rights and Rule of Law (KIBHR), Head of the Almaty office of the International Helsinki Federation for Human Rights, Ninel Fokina died at the age of 85, the KIBHR reported. One of the founders of the human rights movement in Kazakhstan and an irreplaceable head of the Almaty office of the Helsinki Committee left this life, the Bureau said.
Ninel Fokina graduated from the Tomsk Polytechnic University majoring engineering. She was teaching in the Kazakh Leading Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering for many years. Her career started in December 1986. Then she quit the teaching to protect students and colleagues. Fokina came to the public committee and became a member of teh commission on investigation of the December events. Later, she was elected as a member of the human rights committee under the President.
