Mongolian PM announces about launch of gas pipe project from Russia to China through Mongolia

AKIPRESS.COM - Prime Minister of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh has announced about the start of the project of a gas pipe from Russia to China through Mongolia at the meeting with Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev on December 3. "We are gld that the Russian side aupports the project of construction of the gas pipe from Russia to China through the territory of Mongolia. I understand that this project has been launched today," he said.
The Mongolian PM during his official visit, met with Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gazprom Alexey Miller.
They discussed energy cooperation. The company earlier reported about the first delivery of the Russian gas to Mongolia.
On September 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin following his trip to Mongolia ordered the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gazprom Miller to study the opportunity of laying the transit gas pipe through the territory of Mongolia to China.
The gas pipe project may be cheaper and should replace the supply projects through Altai, the Kommersant reports.
