AKIPRESS.COM - The 1st Feminnale of Contemporary Art international exhibition is ongoing in the Gapar Aitiev Fine Arts Museum in Bishkek, but without some "provocative items" after a public criticism. The exhibition opened last week with participation of the naked women. After public outcry on social media, the Minister of Culture Azamat Jamankulov sacked Director of the museum Mira Jangaracheva.
On December 3, Jamankulov told the journalists that a special commission found some exhibits provocative.
The Minister added that he was not against the feminnale exhibition with named women in the museum, but the public was against it.
One of the organizers of the event Altyn Kapalova said that 6 items were removed from the exhibition due to a censor.
"It was an offence against our freedom. We are just shut our mouses when such a sensitive issue occurs," she noted.
