AKIPRESS.COM - MP Ulan Primov (SDPK) at the Parliament session today expressed concern over the situation in the Kumtor gold mine. Two employees of Kumtor went missing recently after the reported landslide at the gold mine.
"It's unknown where these employees are. Here we have a question, how proper the mountain dumps were moved away. This is an alarm for the ecology of our country," he said.
According to him, in the comments of the ecologist Isabek Torgoyev he says that this is a big threat to the environment.
"The future of Kumtor should be discussed. 175 million cubic meters of mountain dumps were moved to the glaciers. These dumps will certainly move and show its consequences. Laterthere will be 2 billion dumps. What will happen to them? All of these will affect the environment, rivers. Yes, Kumtor is one of the largest tax payers, but we should also think of the environment," Primov noted.
