Can Kyrgyzstani prisons fit more prisoners? MP asks

AKIPRESS.COM - The experience of Georgia in reforming the Interior Ministry showed that the number of convicts increased from 8,000 to 25,000 people, said MP Zarylbek Rysaliyev at the parliament meeting on Dec 5. Rysaliyev asked the head of State Penitentiary Service Melis Turganbayev whether Kyrgyzstan's prisons are ready to receive more convicts after the reforms.
"We will handle it. We have no other choice," Turganbayev replied and added that to date a number of inmates has decreased by 2,000 people.
