AKIPRESS.COM - The Asian Development Bank plans to provide around $400 million to support development of Tajikistan in the next 3 years, ADB Country Manager Pradeep Srivastava said and added the final sum depends upon availability of the funds and readiness of the projects, possible partnership and potential co-financing by multilateral and bilateral organizations, Avesta reports. The indicative investment plans includes projects for development of work skills, further development of energy sector, urban infrastructure, transport, improvement of infrastructure, support of financial sector, improvement of water resources management.
In addition to public sector projects, the Bank may consider investments in private sector in agribusiness, financial sector and other areas.
The Bank also plans to support projects in tourism, road rehabilitation, development of urban infrastructure, increase of resilience to natural disasters, investment climate reforms.
The ADB current portfolio makes $780 million. It includes 16 loan and grant projects in energy sector, transport, healthcare, urban infrastructure, education and other.
ADB is Tajikistan's biggest donor that provided over $1.8 billion in grants, concessional loans and technical assistance up to date.
