55,959 people in Kyrgyzstan registered with psychiatric institutions

AKIPRESS.COM - Currently, 55,959 people in Kyrgyzstan are registered with psychiatric institutions, according to the expert from the Ombudsman's Office Suerkul Seidinov, who protects the rights of patients in psychiatric hospitals. The number of registered patients has increased by 704 compared to 2018 (55,255 people).
Patients with psychiatric diseases are growing, he said.
"This is the official number, but there are those who are not treated and hide afraid of what people think about them," he said.
Seidinov noted that a person with mental illness has the same rights as an ordinary citizen.
