MP: Why would Kyrgyzstan need a maritime traffic agreement if it's landlocked?

AKIPRESS.COM - Lawmaker Tynchtykbek Konushbayev is perplexed why the country needs to ratify the maritime traffic agreement if Kyrgyzstan is a landlocked nation.
Another MP Ulugbek Ormonov claims this agreement is not relevant for Kyrgyzstan. "If we pass it, then what happens next? Russian ships will start coming to Issyk-Kul lake?" he asked.
The Transport Ministry said this agreement needs to be ratified because of Kyrgyzstan's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union.
The parliament committee for transport is considering the draft law on ratification of agreement on maritime traffic signed 1 February 2019 in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
After discussions, the committee members endorsed the document.
