AKIPRESS.COM - The Kazakh state fund Samruk-Kazyna acquired 50% of shares of the JSC Ekibastuz power station-2, Managing Director of the Samruk-Kazyna Almasadam Satkaliyev said, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.
"The Samruk-Kazyna announces about the end of the deal on purchase of share in the Ekibastuz power station-2," he told a press conference.
The Russian company Inter RAO wanted to withdraw its shares two years ago, according to him.
The talks with the company resulted in purchase of shares in Ekibastuz power station-2 for $50 million, Satkaliyev noted.
The Samruk-Kazyna plans to build the third block of the Ekibastuz power station-2.
This project is important for covering of the increasing electric loads on Kazakhstan, Satkaliyev added.
The Fund plans to complete the project with the support of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.
