AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has issued an official statement in response to the comments by the U.S House Committee on Foreign Affairs. "We see this comment as not corresponding to reality, as attempt to interfere into the internal affairs of the sovereign state, as well as pressure on the judicial branch of the Kyrgyz Republic," the Foreign Ministry said in the statement.
"We recommend the House Foreign Affairs Committee to more thoroughly select a source of information and double check the obtained information," the statement said.
The Foreign Ministry said Kyrgyzstan has no any restrictions for work of media organizations.
The Kyrgyz Government is suppressing journalism rather rooting out credible allegations of corruption from @Kloopnews & @RFERL Kyrgyz Service, @Azattyk_Radiosu. Intimidating & silencing a free press is an assault on basic freedoms. The government should change course immediately. https://t.co/mcafBXYBs6
