AKIPRESS.COM - The academic council of the Nagoya University has conferred the Honorary Doctor title to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the president's press service said.
The decision was made "over a huge contribution of the President into development of education sector, support of science and academic exchanges, in sign of recognition of ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan on liberalization of economy and achievement of sustainable development," the press service said.
The official ceremony was held at the Nagoya University in presence of the management of the University, Nobel Prize winners, scholars, and professors.
President Mirziyoyev thanked for the awarded title and said the human capital, intellectual potential, innovative ideas and high technologies form the basis of the accelerated and sustainable development.
He suggested to set up Uzbekistan-Japan Fund for Academic Exchanges and Technology Transfer. The Fund will finance bilateral research projects, projects by young researchers, support student and faculty exchanges.
President Mirziyoyev handed over several books and albums published in Uzbekistan in Japanese and Uzbek languages to the library of the Nagoya University.
The President then held a brief conversation with students of the Nagoya University.
