Eurasian Economic Commission Council delays milk requirements for Kazakhstan for 5 years

AKIPRESS.COM - The Eurasian Economic Commission Council has prolonged a transition period for introduction of requirements on microbiological indicators for diary products in Kazakhstan until January 2025, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.
"The optimal date for Kazakhstan is January 1, 2025. By this time, the country will execute all works necessary for the relevant national road map, including improvement of laboratory base and experiences of controlling of the incoming raw materials," the EEC reported.
The EEC said that the diary products produced in line with the transition requirements will be circulated only in Kazakhstan.
The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan earlier said that the country needs a transition period for bringing the milk products to new standards. The period was supposed to last for 5 years.
The Kazakh side claims that the current level of development of the system of processing of diary industry in Kazakhstan does not allow to provide execution of requirements of the technical regulation of the EEC from January 1, 2020.
Kazakhstan has twice delayed the terms of introduction of new requirements from July 1, 2017.
The Ministry of Agriculture says the transition period is needed for support of national production.
