AKIPRESS.COM - Some 39 people died and 158 injured in road accidents in Kazakhstan within a week, Minister of Interior of the country Erlan Turgumbayev said, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.
According to him, 104 road accidents were recorded on December 16-22, 2019.
The highest car accident incidences are due to unfavorable weather conditions that negatively affect the situation on the roads.
A sharp warming of the air temperature and further formation of slippery surface on the highways and poor visibility due to a fog are the main reasons for the road accidents, Turgumbayev noted.
The vehicular movement was closed in 11 roads of the regions due to weather conditions.
Despite the warnings, the Ministry said that many drivers ignored the traffic safety rules and drive on the dangerous roads.
