AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov met with the Chairman of the American-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce Carolyn Lamm and the former Prime Minister of Bavaria (Germany), the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Eugen Biser Foundation Dr. Günter Beckstein - international observers for the election of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, UzDaily reports. Sharing impressions about the event, international observers positively assessed both the pre-election preparation and the election process itself, noting the strategic importance of this event for further deepening democratic reforms and the formation of civil society in the Republic, and also emphasized the large amount of work done to ensure the level of organization of processes voting by international electoral standards.
The meetings also touched upon current issues of investment and trade and economic cooperation: for example, the progress in the practical implementation of the initiatives and agreements reached during the visit of the delegation of Uzbekistan to the United States and the American-Uzbek Forum in Washington in October 2019 was discussed with Carolyn Lamm.
The main priority of the interaction between the two organizations is to strengthen the position of American investors and entrepreneurs in the market of Uzbekistan both through the implementation of their own projects and through the development of cooperation with Uzbek manufacturers. In this regard, the possibilities of organizing visits of the heads of large US companies to Uzbekistan to negotiate with the relevant industry departments and associations were worked out.
In the conversation with G Günter Beckstein, the dynamics of multifaceted bilateral cooperation was also discussed, the impetus of which was given through mutual visits of the heads of both states and systematic work to strengthen ties at the intergovernmental and business levels. In this context, a major role is given to the initiative to hold the Days of the Economy of Uzbekistan in the cities of Bavaria and the Days of the Economy of Bavaria in Tashkent in 2020. The events will significantly bring together the business communities of Uzbekistan and Bavaria, exchange promising ideas and proposals for the implementation of joint projects and trade deals. Also during the conversation, the possibilities of attracting large Bavarian investors and entrepreneurs to participate in the Tashkent International Investment Forum in 2020 were studied.
At the end of the meetings, the participants agreed on close cooperation and mutual support in the framework of the indicated areas of cooperation.
