AKIPRESS.COM - "We're changing the external debt policy," said Kyrgyz President Sooronbai Jeenbekov at his year-end press conference.
External debt to GDP ratio in 2017 was 53.1% and it decreased to 48% in 2018. By the end 2019, it is expected that this ratio will fall to 44.1%-45%, said Jeenbekov.
"We are now trying to have a different approach to external debt, we will be considering loans with a grant element for projects that are beneficial for us, especially for irrigation, creation of new jobs, and processing. Our donors are paying attention to that too," he said.
