Turkmenistan’s trade with SPECA countries exceeds $1 billion

AKIPRESS.COM - The volume of trade between Turkmenistan and SPECA countries is growing significantly, state news agency of Turkmenistan reports.
According to the document, Turkmenistan's trade with SPECA countries amounted to $886 million in 2016. In 2017, the figure increased by 11% and amounted to $982 million.
In 2018, the volume of trade grew by 13.3% and reached $1.113 billion. This indicator has exceeded $1 billion by the outcomes of nine months of this year. Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are the main trading partners of Turkmenistan among SPECA countries.
Turkmenistan presided over the United Nations Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) in 2019. In November, Ashgabat hosted the SPECA Days, during which a number of important events aimed at facilitation of trade and transit procedures, formation of transboundary production and sale links in the region took place.
SPECA was launched in 1998 to strengthen subregional cooperation in Central Asia and its integration into the world economy. The countries of SPECA are Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
