Chinese Ambassador: Bishkek to become city with best roads in CIS region

AKIPRESS.COM - China signed agreements on Belt and Road Initiative with 160 countries and organizations. Joint consulting, joint building and joint use has become a golden principle of implementation of this Initiative, Ambassador China Du Dewen told AKIpress when asked to comment on the progress of the given Initiative. "Kyrgyzstan is an important Belt and Road country and is one of the first supporters of this Initiative. Thanks to the joint Belt and Road building, China and Kyrgyzstan have achieved many good results, including consruction of the Datka-Kemin overhead power transmission line. This project ensured energy security for Kyrgyzstan," she said.
Another project was construction of a hospital in Osh. It is a very good hospital. Specialists say it is the biggest surgery hospital in Central Asia. Of course, the level of health care services for local population has been improved significantly with this project, the Ambassador added.
Ongoing rehabilitation of roads in Bishkek is another project of the Initiative. It will make Bishkek the city with the best roads in the CIS region, the Ambassador emphasized.
China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan road will enhance transport capacity of Kyrgyzstan, she said.
"The North-South alternative road is another good project of the Belt and Road Initiative between China and Kyrgyzstan. To build this road, the Chinese government provided concessional loans for $700 million in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization framework," the Ambassador said.
"We know this road is the biggest project in construction of roads in Kyrgyzstan since the country gained sovereignty. We know this road will significantly shorten distance between Naryn, Issyk-Kul regions and other important cities in the south of Kyrgyzstan," the Ambassador stated.
"They say in China, if you want to become rich, build a road at first. Of course, we are confident this road will facilitate socio-economic development of Kyrgyzstan, will help improvement of well-being of people in Kyrgyzstan," the Ambassador underlined.
"We expect this project will be successfully accomplished. We hope and wish this road to bring a huge benefit for Kyrgyzstan. We wish this road to become bridge of friendship, example of Belt and Road joint building," the Ambassador concluded.
