Khorezm blogger discharged from mental hospital

AKIPRESS.COM - Khorezm blogger Nafosat Ollashukurova was released from a mental hospital on December 28. She was held there for 3 months on the basis of the court ruling. According to Tashkent-based Ezgulik human rights center chief Abdurahman Tashanov, a special commission found there is no need to extend medial treatment of Ollashukuorva.
Nafosat's father Boltaboi Ollashukurov confirmed the information that his daughter is heading to Tashkent, centralasian.org reports.
Attorney Umid Davlatov said he has no information on discharge of his client from the mental hospital.
32-year old Nafosat Ollashukurova was sentenced to 10-day administrative arrest after she was covering the march to Tashkent of Khorezm poet and journalist Mahmud Rajab. The court found her guilty of petty hooliganism, disobedience to police officer, creation of conditions for unsanctioned assemblies, rallies, marches and demonstrations.
Three days after arrest Ollashukurova was taken to the mental hospital in Urgench.
The General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan said a day after arrest the signs of mental disorder were obvious.
Several reputed international human rights groups demanded to immediately release he from hospital and stop the forcible treatment.
Nafosat Ollashukurova on her Facebook page highlighted the issues related to women's rights and corruption of local authorities.
